We are moving our focus to the state-of-the-art Helium network! Happy to announce our recently constructed device prototype with Arduino ProMini and LoRa module from Olimex! Operation based on Arduino sample sketch from Helium tailored for EU 868MHz band.
The near further road map includes several sensors integration alongside with moving to low power mode and switching to ESP32 MCU.
The code and schematics will be soon available on GitHub.
The project is open for ideas and discussions.
The HobbyIoT team will be happy to listen and discuss every valued idea to make the project better together!

Facing the new reality at the electronic market and the brand new state-of-the art solutions for low power short range IoT networks we are encouraged to continue our journey! With the well known structure (Gateway and low power End devices) and the philosophy of the HobbyIoT NET project for 100% open source wireless IoT network we are going to upgrade the system elements and add much more value in our solution.
Together with the physical network elements, the upgrade of the HobbyIoT NET is going to integrate a flexible open platform to integrate within and also add a significant grade of flexibility and ease of automation process through the network setup, operation and maintenance.
The project is open for ideas and discussions starting the beginning of next year.
The HobbyIoT team will be happy to listen and discuss every valued idea to make the project better together!
HobbyIoT NET is an Open source wireless sensor network adventure. The solution concept was developed around the general idea to have a fully open source, easy to program and upgrade, easy to implement and cheap IoT solution.
All modules are Arduino compatible. The connectivity is based on the low power 802.15.4 transport running the MQTT-SN protocol right over it to have the simplest and shortest messages possible. The Gateway supports up to 1024 end devices* and translates messages to and from standard MQTT protocol.
With step by step development both software and hardware the are getting more and more compact, simple and nice!
The HobbyIoT THR V2 Sensor node is the most recent and the most popular member of the HobbyIoT NET adventure. The hardware is designed within the CircuitMaker environment. The board is carrying an ATMega328P MCU togherther with DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor alongside with a reed sensor for door/window sensing applications. The module is Arduino compatible and both the code and PCB designs are available as opensource under MIT License.
The board design won the 7th place in the CircuitMaker's #FR1Challenge contest this spring giving the author a full commercial license of the great CircuitStudio product! Visit the link below for details!
